Follow these 6 steps to conquer each lesson at your own pace. 
Remember: study smart, not hard!

Step 1: Get the Vibe 
Turn on dual subtitles using Language Reactor. 
Watch the whole video once from start to finish without pausing. 
Don't worry about the words you don't understand yet! 
Just get a general idea of the story and focus on enjoying the beautiful visuals of Taiwan.

Step 2: Set Your Goal for Today
Be realistic and avoid getting overwhelmed. 
If there are many parts you don't understand, set your goal to just the first 30 seconds of the video (or 2 to 3 sentences). 
I highly recommend everyone start with this micro-goal! 
Once you finish all the steps for this chunk, you can extend your goal further (e.g., up to the 1-minute mark).

Step 3: Read the transcript and highlight words
Open the text transcript on the right, copy it to your own cloud drive, and read up to your designated goal (e.g., the 00:30 mark). 
Highlight any unfamiliar words, phrases, or sentences.
Note on Tones: Chrome extension subtitles often miss authentic tone changes in spoken Taiwanese Mandarin. For precise tones, always follow our provided transcript.



Step 4: Download and study the Anki flashcards
Download the Anki flashcard deck for this lesson and import it into your Anki app. 
Start studying the vocabulary for this section to unlock the meanings of less common words and hyper-local Taiwanese slang.
Pro-Tip for the Algorithm: When reviewing, I recommend using only the "Good" or "Hard" buttons. This keeps the Anki algorithm simple and stress-free!



Step 5: Watch the video segment again with Auto-Pause
Watch the video segment again up to your goal mark. 
This time, enable the AP (Auto Pause) feature in Language Reactor. 
Let the video pause after each line, and use your mouse to hover over any words you are still unsure about.




Step 6: On-the-Go Immersion
Open SoundCloud playlist and listen to the audio track to test yourself. 
How much can you understand without looking at any subtitles? 
Save these tracks and treat them like a podcast, listen to them anytime, anywhere (while commuting, doing chores, or working out) to lock the sounds into your brain.
